In signing out the pathology report, the bottom line is entitled as interpretation instead of diagnosis.

In my personal view, pathologists pick up the morphological features from the slides and interpret these features incorporating the limited clinical information provided, to form a professional opinion regarding that particular case. Therefore, interpretation reflects more the actual process performed by the pathologist, although the opinion or conclusion he make ultimately constitutes the diagnosis of the patient.
